Now, cislunar space, roughly the area between geosynchronous Earth orbit and the Moon, is coming to the fore as nations, including the United States, are expected to increase missions to the Moon over the next 10 years. The technical and policy challenges, however, are many and warrant scrutiny from the United States and its allies to maximize mission success. Exploring these challenges and the oft-heard “new Moon race,” the CSIS Aerospace Security Project recently released a report entitled “Salmon Swimming Upstream: Charting a Course in Cislunar Space.” Please join us on Friday, October 25 at 12:00 PM EDT for a conversation on this report and cislunar space with Clayton Swope, Deputy Director of the Aerospace Security Project and Senior Fellow with the International Security Program; Victoria Samson, Chief Director of Space Security and Stability, Secure World Foundation; and Alexander MacDonald, Chief Economist, NASA. The livestreamed discussion will be moderated by Kari A. Bingen, Director of the Aerospace Security Project and Senior Fellow with the International Security Program. This event is made possible through general support to CSIS.
